The goal is to achieve a flat coil once the steel passes through all the rolls.

Coil Set is a bow condition parallel with the rolling direction, while Crossbow is a bow condition perpendicular to the rolling direction. These coil shape imperfections can be corrected using shape control equipment like flatteners or levelers.

In summary, coil leveling aims to minimize distortion before further processing, but it’s essential to control the process to avoid excessive work hardening of the coil.
